goose - We posted at the same time and my post mentions that I believe I am being too optimistic. I just want the player to give it another season to build on this success. It won't happen, this is West Ham and we sell our top talent.

He's been clear with the club about his desire to leave this summer, and the club have agreed.

LJC - He won't go there this summer, for sure. Hence why timing is everything. Perhaps he can wait another season at West Ham and jump next summer....I think I'm being too optimistic.

I know all about them being season ticket holders and fans but I also know he was dumped by them for not being good enough, his best mate wants out there and they have to have a massive clear out due to the ffp rules and I haven’t seen a link anywhere that they are interested. I could be massively wrong of course but can’t see him going there.

he wants out this summer and has had that agreed.
best case scenario now is we get a deal agreed early for the best possible price.
if this drags on we have a player who doesnt want to be here and a handfull of buyers who know that and wont budge on price.

WHU offered Rice £80 m and he turned it down. We were then in a buy low sell high scenario.

LJC - He and his family are Chelsea supporters. HIs Dad is also his agent so influences where he goes. Only reason Chelsea aren't being linked now is that they need huge clearout of players this summer. Next summer would be perfect timing for all...

he's leaving, get used to it. the challenge is getting the best price and getting him replaced.

I think Sullivan going on the Radio and announcing Declan will be leaving this summer wasn’t great timing. At least let the fans celebrate the previous nights victory and get the parade over first. That’s Sullivan the attention whore for you.
That being said I don’t think him announcing it is going to make much difference to what clubs are coming in for him and how much we can get. They already knew.
It’s been fairly common knowledge that Rice wants to go and Mark Noble in a few interviews over the past 6 months has pretty much admitted it without actually saying it.
Other clubs would already have been informed through his agent/Dad that he will be available this summer.

Where has this he wants to go to Chelsea come from? That’s the only club that I haven’t seen any link too. Include in that that his best mate is refusing to stay there would indicate that is the last club he will end up at.

Could it be that Sullivan has put this out there to pluck at the heart strings of Declan? He wants to go to Chelsea but has said that winning things is his motivation.
Chelsea aren't winning anything next season, but the season after, maybe., stay another season and next summer they'll (Chelsea) will be back in Europe.
Timing is everything, DS might have played a blinder.

Yesterday morning Sullivan couldn’t wait to tell the world two things;
1. Our captain wants to leave and has done for a while
2. He won’t sign a new contract
No one with a brain thinks that those statements will serve to drive the price up.

A tear ago the market was £150 million. Thats called no market. This year there is a market but we dont have to sell and he doesnt have to go. He wanted to go to Chelsea but they are no longer in any European competition. His options are small and so, cosequently are ours. We have had incredible value out of him.
